Tina Leininger

Tina has been coaching for over 30 years and was herself coached by World and Olympic coach Helmut May. She has students that range from recreational to national champions and international competitors.

 

Tina is a triple Gold Medalist. In addition to these skating achievements she has studied a variety of dance styles and techniques. Tina’s work is influenced by jazz, tap, classical ballet and acrobatics, all of which she studied for over 15 years. She has performed internationally and was principle skater with Holiday on Ice and the Canada Ice Dance Theatre.

 

As a performer and practitioner of movement, Tina has honed her choreographic skills. Her programs are complex yet integrate flow and speed. Tina is a stylist bar none where attention to detail moves her work from good to great and where each skater has an opportunity to express their own unique personality.

 

Tina has an exceptional understanding of what it takes to shape young athletes and has placed special emphasis on this as part of her professional development program. She believes in the power of sport to teach valuable life skills and to produce well rounded young people. Her ability to guide, develop and produce quality skaters from beginners to National Champions is demonstrated by the success of all her students.

 

To this end, Tina is dedicated to enriching skating in BC. She has served on the BC Coast Coaching Committee. She represented the singles discipline on the BC Coaches Committee.

 

Tina has been part of teaching staff at the annual Provincial Development Camp held in Kelowna, a BC Coast Regional Development Team coach and executive member, and offers individualized creative and technical seminars. Tina has also guest coached at numerous Provincial seminars including Rising Stars, Provincial Development, Regional Development and Provincial Team camps. All this collaborative work provides opportunities for competition simulation and evaluation, mental training and access to qualified professionals and social events aimed at building a strong skating community.

 

Tina received the 2003 BC and Yukon Coach of the Year and the BC-YT Section 2006/07 Volunteer Coach of the Year for her tireless efforts to raise the bar in figure skating at the grass roots level. Tina is a member of Skate Canada and CABC.
